Departure from Dallas/Arrival in Doha

Our team is utilizing a devotional booklet for our trip and each day the devotion focuses on a specific scripture and quote that we want to share with you!

Today's scripture is from Romans 1:16:

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

Today's quote is from Charles Spurgeon:

“Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter.”

This group is ready to serve and be missionaries for Christ - you can feel the excitement in the group - we are ready to get to Zambia and work with the Family Legacy Excel Beyond Students.

We departed DFW after quite the adventure at check-in! We had one bag packed with our workshop supplies develop a tear en-route and the airline would not accept it - so we quickly had to combine the contents of that bag with some others and also found out (suprise, suprise!) that our airline weighs your carry-on items and some of us were over the 15 lb limit - so once again we were combining items in luggage! Truly a team-bonding and team-building moment as we creatively strategized how to quickly consolidate our items! We also quickly realized that guys definitely pack less than girls! :)

The first leg of our journey included a 14-hour flight from Dallas to Doha. We found it interesting that one of the options for on-board entertainment was a digital copy of the Quran - thought it would be nice to offer a digital copy of the Bible on US flights! We experienced some interesting international food and plenty of it - we had 3 different meal services within 14 hours - we are not going hungry on this leg of the trip!

We are currently on our layover at the Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. It is the second-best airport in the world for 2023 and offers amazing shopping, dining, people-watching and more! We even found a giant yellow bear!

We have a 7-hour flight to Lusaka next and will have a jam-packed first day on the ground in Africa filled with a tour of the local schools, a Zambian meal and check-in to our first-stay in Lusaka!
